Is it Possible for Vegetarians to go on a Low Carb Diet?

The good news is that you can intertwine low carbs and vegetarian diets into a program that will bring together the best of both worlds for an effective weight loss program. The key is to get a little creative with your protein, to ensure that you can keep your energy level high, and to make sure that you are including plenty of vegetables and low carb grains for fiber and nutrients.
There are Many Choices for a Low Carb Vegetarian Diet
One of the easiest ways to take your low carb diet vegetarian is by including meat substitutes into your diet program. Products like tofu or seitan can be added to many dishes for additional substance and protein. There are many other meat substitutes on the market that can be added to many of your recipes instead of meat. You can find substitutes for burgers, steak and chicken. You can also toss low carb pastas with vegetables, seasonings and a bit of cheese on top.
Another great way to add protein to a low carb vegetarian diet is with nuts and seeds. Almonds have been touted for years as a healthy nut to eat daily, and pumpkin and sunflower seeds are just two examples of the tasty snacks that can become part of your low carb vegetarian diet and even peanuts can be included in your program.
Eggs and milk are other good options for protein enhanced additions to your program. In the low carb vegetarian diet, eggs are not just for breakfast! There are many great dishes that you can make with eggs and other low carb ingredients for a meal any time of the day or night. A glass of milk can help fill your stomach up if you are looking for a quick snack choice in between meals.
Switching to a low carb vegetarian diet doesn’t mean that you have to skimp on flavor. Go wild with your garlic, seasonings, and even your cayenne pepper for added zip. Spice up your low carb pastas, grilled vegetables and your meat substitutes. Tofu, for example, can be spiced up to enhance almost any dish. With some creativity and experimenting in the kitchen, you may come up with some low carb vegetarian dishes that are a hit with your entire family.
