Using a Natural Remedy for Head Louse
By M. A. Fulmar
If a member of your home has been diagnosed as being infected with head lice it is important to know that there are a number of treatment options available. Those two specific methods are through the use of an insecticide or through natural means.
Using an insecticide generally means those products that contain such ingredients as permethrins and pyrethrins. These ingredients can be found either in shampoos or lotions and can be applied to the hair and scalp to kill the head lice.
Many parents avoid the use of these products due to the fact that they contain insecticides and require multiple applications. In addition, being an insecticide based product, instructions should be followed explicitly.
An alternative option is the choosing of a natural remedy for head louse. Some of these natural remedies include the use of oils and combing the infected area.
Oils
One natural remedy for head louse is through the use of homeopathic remedies. These remedies include the use of essential oils and derivatives from herbs. One such natural remedy for head louse was the use of a number of drops of eucalyptus oil that was mixed with tea tree oil. The oils were combined with a quantity of hair conditioner and were combed into the infected person’s hair.
One caution would include that certain treatments may have been effective for some, but may not be effective for all. Therefore, it is important to monitor the situation and try other remedies if certain ones do not provide resolution.
Following this natural remedy for head louse or any other method, it is important that the combing of the individual’s hair be performed. Also, a number of treatments may be indicated in that the first treatment may have killed the active lice that had attached themselves to the hair follicles. However, within seven to eight days, eggs that were laid may have hatched and given rise to new lice.
Combing
Another natural remedy for head louse is by combing. On the market are specific combs that are intended to be used to comb an individual’s hair that has been diagnosed with an infection of lice. These combs are designed to specifically remove and kill lice, their eggs and the remaining shells from hatched lice. These combs are designed with specific grooves which allows for the teeth of the comb to run smoothly through the hair. In addition the ends of the comb’s teeth are rounded which prevents the scalp from being damaged.
When using this natural remedy for head louse it is important to remember to comb the hair daily for at least two weeks after the last remaining live individual lice has been identified.
