Espresso Coffee Machine
Espresso Coffee Machine: Three Categories
By Wendy Simons
There are three main and fundamental types of espresso coffee machines including the super automatics, semi automatics and the manual ones. So, how does one decide which type is ideal and suitable? For that one may need to decide how much control is required over the brewing process. Matching the espresso coffee machine to individual needs and styles calls for making an important decision since it involves knowing whether the machine would offer the correct balance between ease of use as well as user control and if it does, then it may be the right espresso coffee machine to buy. It is much like making a match in Java Heaven and so it is important to know what is available as well as what are the differences between individual espresso coffee machines.
Pump Driven Machines
For those who are particularly fond of going through the entire ritual of making espresso or for the hobbyist or for the coffee culture enthusiast, the old world pump driven espresso coffee machine which are throw backs of times gone by when espresso was first discovered, would be most suitable. They have nice frothers which are powerful enough for using in a home and there are a few that are semi-automatic and they can simplify the whole frothing process.
There are also semi-automatic espresso coffee machines which succeeded the piston machines and are much easier to use. The user will need to start the pump and lets the machine extract and when extraction is complete, usually in twenty to twenty-five seconds; the user has to switch off the machine. These semi automatic espresso coffee machines are very popular since they are more consistent and simple to use as compared to the Piston style machines and also produce a fine product.
Another popular espresso coffee machine is the one touch system which requires the user to start the extraction through activation of a touch pad system and from then on the machine would continue to extract till such time as a predetermined volume of espresso has been satisfied and will then switch off on its own, without operator intervention. Such fully automatic espresso coffee machines are most likely to be used in cafes as well as restaurants, though they are also used in homes.
The super automatics perform the entire coffee making ritual in a fraction of the time that others do and contain water reservoirs as well as integrated coffee grinders and are a prime example of push button technology. By simply pressing the brew button the super automatic will grind the correct amount of beans, pack the ground beans, extract a programmed amount of coffee and then set out the left-over coffee into an internal dump box. These machines are the most popular ones in the market and have many advantages over other types.
