Celebrate the Christmas Season with a Delicious Christmas Recipe
By Audrey Sneddon

One of the best parts of Christmas is the food (especially the desserts) that the holiday evokes. The Christmas season provides people with the chance to spend quality time together, and one of the ways that people can spend this time is by making different Christmas recipes.

The Nostalgia of a Christmas Recipe

Many families who celebrate Christmas do so with certain traditions, and food is often a big part of those traditions. Christmas recipes for various meals and desserts are often passed down from generation to generation. Thus, it is interesting to think that the fruit cake that one is eating during a Christmas gathering could be the same fruit cake that was enjoyed by others a hundred years ago.

Christmas Recipe Ideas

Although there are various Christmas recipes for regular meals, no doubt the most fun Christmas recipes to create are the desserts. As such, if one is looking for a Christmas recipe in the dessert category, the fruitcake recipe is a popular one to choose from.

The Betty Crocker Fruit Cake Recipe

For this traditional Christmas recipe, one will need a variety of different ingredients. These ingredients include: 1 ½ cups of cut dates, 1 ½ cups of cut raisins, 2 cups of sugar, 2 cups of boiling water, 5 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 3 cups of flour (that must have been previously sifted), 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of cloves, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 cup of chopped nuts.

Once all of these ingredients have been accurately measured and laid out on a clean surface, the raisins, vegetable oil, and sugar should be placed in a pan and gently simmered for 20 minutes. After this is done, the mixture should be allowed to cool for about 5 minutes. While that mixture is cooling, the cinnamon, salt, soda, and cloves should be sifted together and added to the cooled mix. Nits should be stirred into the total mix, and, to keep the nuts from sinking, a little bit of flour should also be added at the same time. The mix should then be poured into a greased pan, and baked at 325 degrees for 1/1/2 hours.

Making Memories

Fruit cake is just one out of hundreds of Christmas recipes that a person could make. For more ideas, one should consult a favored cookbook, or various internet websites. With the proper research, one is sure to find the perfect Christmas recipe that could very well become a family tradition.
