Christmas Greeting Card
Send Your Holiday Greetings In A Christmas Card
By Audrey Sneddon
Commercial Christmas greeting cards were first created in England in the year 1843. They are still one of the most popular Christmas traditions, giving folks the chance to communicate with old friends and family that they might not otherwise hear from. The Christmas greeting card has evolved in many ways over recent years, from photo cards and holiday newsletters to electronic Christmas greetings. Even with the many changes it has experienced, the Christmas greeting card is still a popular holiday tradition for many families throughout the world.
Displaying Your Christmas Greeting Cards
One of the big holiday dilemmas is what to do with the many Christmas greeting cards that you will receive throughout the month of December. There are many creative options for displaying your cards as a part of your holiday decorating. You can take a piece of festive ribbon and string it across a doorway. Attach your cards to the ribbon by tying them on or using miniature clothespins to clip them on. You can frame a bathroom mirror or doorway with cards as well by simply taping them to the frame. A pretty basket on your coffee table makes a festive catch-all for Christmas greeting cards, letters and photos. There are also many beautiful commercial card holders available, from those that set on a table to others that hang on the wall. If you are a creative spirit, you can fashion your own card holder as well by using fabric, needlepoint or wood.
Recycling Your Christmas Greeting Cards
Once you figure out how to display your cards during the holiday season, you will then be faced with what to do with them once the holidays are over. There are plenty of ideas for recycling Christmas greeting cards as well. You can cut up the pictures to use the cards for tree ornaments, or to construct new greeting cards that you can send out the following year. You can use the cards with your origami skills to create festive miniature gift boxes. You can even cut them up and glue them together to make Christmas balls and tabletop trees. If you can’t come up with any recycling ideas of your own, you can find a plethora of possibilities in Christmas craft books and on the internet. With the many wonderful projects available for Christmas greeting cards, you will be anxious to collect your holiday greeting this year. Save those cards, and happy crafting!
