Christmas wreaths are a very popular part of the holiday season, and it’s something that comes to mind for almost all of us who plan to decorate for the season. Whether you live in a place where it rarely gets cold even during Christmas, or a place where the land is full of fluffy white snow, a Christmas wreath decoration is a perfect addition to any holiday decoration plans!

Making the Wreath Instead of Buying It

Anyone can buy a Christmas wreath decoration, but by making your own you can create an unexpected delight when visitors see it. The decoration is bound to be different from any other they’ve seen, and it can make for a great conversation piece! You may be thinking, “How would making my own Christmas wreath decoration look much different than a store bought one? After all, it’s just a bunch of tree leaves made into a circle!”

Well, by making the Christmas wreath decoration yourself, you can add many elements that just aren’t seen on purchased ones. A few tips to creating your own special wreath is all you should need to spark your own creative ideas and help you make a very special decoration.

Just as a store bought wreath, your homemade Christmas wreath decoration should start with a base of leaves from your own Christmas tree. Once you have a few branches to use, make a circle with them and hold the circle together using something like garbage bag ties.

The base is made, now it’s time for your creativity to shine through! You can find many different things around the house to make your project something extraordinary. If you have young children, some of their toys are a perfect idea! For example, use their small building blocks (You know, the kind that has letters on each side for children to spell words and such) and wrap them in wrapping paper.

Use a bit of ribbon to create small Christmas packages, and hang a few around the wreath! You can also use molding clay to create a Santa and his elves, use the oven to make them solid, and create your own Santa’s workshop as your Christmas wreath decoration.

Whatever you choose to do, your creativity is your only limit so think outside the box to create your very own wreaths, and who knows, you may be in business for yourself during the holidays!
