Three Different Types of Attention Deficit Disorder Symptoms
By M. A. Fulmar

There are many forms of attention deficit disorder symptoms in which no two people would show the same symptoms and which manifest themselves in the form of undue passiveness or inattentiveness or even aggressive hyperactivity that is out of control.

The person who has attention deficit disorder symptoms may often not be able to sit still or plan ahead or may be unable to complete tasks or even be fully aware of what is happening around them. Family and classmates as well as teachers may perceive a person suffering with attention deficit disorder symptoms as being disorganized and in a state of frenzied activity.

8 out of 14 Symptoms need to be Present

When treating a person with attention deficit disorder symptoms, physicians may make use of checklists that help find out whether the person is indeed suffering from this disorder or not and, according to the Washington DC based American Psychiatric Association there could be as many as fourteen different symptoms out of which as many as eight symptoms have to be present in the patient for it to be called an attention deficit disorder.

Of the many different symptoms of attention deficit disorder there are at least fourteen that include being very fidgety with hands or feet, or squirming while seated and having a lot of difficulty staying seated. Also, the person may get distracted very easily by stimulus from without and they may also experience difficult in waiting for their turn in a game or in group activities.

Attention deficit disorder symptoms would also include being unable to follow instructions, finding it difficult in sustaining attention in performing tasks or in playing activities and changing tasks, one to the other. The person may also not be able to play quietly and may also talk excessively while also being prone to interrupting others or intruding on them or not listening to what is being said and also, forgetting things that are required to perform tasks or activities. Finally, the patient may often take part in physically dangerous activities without paying heed to safety and possible consequences.

3 Types

There are also three sub categories of attention deficit disorder symptoms and these are the inattentive type, the hyperactive/impulsive type as well as the combined type. The first is the classic disorder while the second is termed attention deficit hyperactive disorder and the third is a combination of the two. Also, even though the attention deficit disorder symptoms appear to be clear and straightforward, there are many variances in diagnosis and one can subjectively evaluate the disorder from the rate of prescriptions.
